Three awesome days of VBS are now finished! What a great experience..... I hope the kids and the parents enjoyed it as much as the team did. It was truly apparent all the time and work and attention to details that our team put into this VBS.... upon arrival the kids could play frisbee (which they have never seen) or create playdoh masterpieces on the picnic tables or play on the little playground. Then it was off to the opening program with myself and Cosmin - each day we would teach them an easy song in English with lots of motions and then we would enjoy some Romanian singing as well. It was so fun to see them all singing and doing the motions.
Then it was Bible time! Seth taught the first lesson on Creation, Cassie did the second lesson on Lazarus, and Kate did the third lesson on Peter in the Boat (Let Jesus Be your Guide). They then split up by age groups and rotated between three stations.... Crafts, Games, and Snacks. The kids seemed to have a great time. And each area fit perfectly into the theme of Letting Jesus be your guide! They did an amazing job! We have such a talented team!!
The Construction team and our time at Mitspa has also been great. Through creative solutions by Kevin - we have been able to find something that will work for each of our construction needs although they are often very different from what they set out to find. Joel and Kevin have made some great friendships at the construction stores in town.... those that see them and don't speak english run as they walk into the store, so they say :) It is our hope to have it all finished today! One group has already started painting the office part of the building and the siding was just about done when I left yesterday. There hard work has paid off and the end is in sight.
We finished our evening with dinner and a team meeting.... I won't go into great details but we definately laughed a lot yesterday, from the hum hum that a dog makes, Alexia's brownies for Kate and Aaron's birthday, Cassie's translating skills, Kate's ability to make us all cry, the gummy worm that the one year old was eating and someone out of no where came and took it right out of his mouth.... if you want details on those you will have to ask a team member when they get home.... if they are willing to tell you - :)
Prayers for today that we are able to finish all our projects. And for tonight as we have a big cookout for the teens (and whoever else shows up!)
